The Illusion of a Better Life: Why We Often Miss the Beauty of Our Own

In today’s world, it seems like everyone has something - yet almost no one feels truly satisfied. We constantly compare ourselves to others, believing their lives are better, easier, or more fulfilling. But is that really the truth?

Take a simple example: a person with a steady job often feels frustrated or unfulfilled in their role. Meanwhile, someone unemployed or actively seeking work dreams of landing any job, hoping it will bring stability and happiness. Similarly, a married person might feel stuck in a relationship, even contemplating divorce, while someone single dreams of finding love and settling down, believing that marriage will bring them joy.

The same goes for lifestyles. A common man dreams of fame and travel, wishing to explore the world. On the other hand, celebrities - who seem to have it all - often long for privacy and normalcy. Each person believes the grass is greener on the other side.

This is the reality: we rarely appreciate our present situation. We forget that our life, just as it is, is a gift. Instead, we focus on others’ lives, thinking their “plate” is fuller than ours - without realizing they might be thinking the same about us.

We tend to see only the happiness in others from a distance, not the struggles hidden behind their smiles. If you could truly understand the burdens others carry, you might start appreciating your own life more deeply.

The moment you stop comparing and start living, you’ll discover that your life is valuable - perhaps even beautiful - just as it is. And that realization can change everything.
