I can’t do this anymore… or can you?
We all feel like giving up sometimes. Maybe you're tired. Maybe things aren't working out. And there's a voice in your head saying, “I can’t do this anymore,” “This is too hard,” or “I should stop.” But pause for a moment. What if this moment isn’t the end, but the beginning of something great?
Most people give up just when they’re about to succeed. Why? Because they feel tired, discouraged, or believe they’ve already failed. But here’s the truth: that feeling of “I can’t” often means you’re closer than you think.
Let’s look at some real people, from India and around the world, who almost gave up but didn’t. Because they kept going, their lives changed and so did the world around them.
Thomas Edison failed 1,000 times while trying to invent the lightbulb. People thought he was wasting his time. But he kept trying and finally made it work. He once said, “I didn’t fail. I just found 1000 ways that didn’t work.”
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam wanted to be a fighter pilot but got rejected. Still, he became one of India’s top scientists and later became the President of India.
Amitabh Bachchan had no work and was heavily in debt in the 1990s. People thought his career was over. But he didn’t give up. He made a big comeback with the show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Dhirubhai Ambani started his career working at a petrol pump. He had no business background but went on to build Reliance, one of India’s biggest companies.
Mary Kom was told to quit boxing after becoming a mother. But she trained harder and went on to win world championships and an Olympic medal.
Ritesh Agarwal, the founder of OYO Rooms, came from a small town and was rejected by many investors. At one point, he stayed in cheap hotels himself to understand customer problems. Later, he built OYO into a global brand.
Everyone fails. That’s part of the journey. But the real danger is when we start believing the voice that says, “Maybe I’m not good enough,” or “Maybe I should stop.” Instead, try saying, “Let me try one more time.” That small decision can change everything.
Most successful people had moments when they wanted to give up. But they didn’t. They chose to try again. And that made all the difference.
So next time you feel like saying, “I can’t do this anymore,” say instead, “Maybe not today, but I’ll try again tomorrow.” Because sometimes, the biggest success comes right after you feel like quitting.
