Is This How Life Should Be Lived?

Have you ever noticed how most of us approach life? Whether it’s a job, a personal task, or even a dream, our focus is almost always on one thing — completion. We rush to finish. We strive to achieve. We aim to impress, to benefit, or to meet expectations. Rarely do we pause to experience the journey, the process, or the present moment.

This mindset is deeply ingrained. The moment something is assigned or undertaken, the human tendency is to think about the outcome — not the experience. But is this really the best way to live?

Only a few people truly live in the present. Most are constantly thinking about the future — what’s next, what’s to come, and how things will turn out. A child dreams of becoming a grown-up. Teenagers look forward to college. College students think about getting a job. Adults look ahead to marriage. Married individuals focus on children, their education, and eventually their careers. The cycle continues — chasing one milestone after another.

And then, one day, we find ourselves older, reflecting on the past and contemplating death — hoping for peace after a lifetime spent running.

Is this really living?

Shouldn’t we, instead, think about how we are executing each task, how we are living each moment? Life isn’t just about reaching destinations — it’s about experiencing the path, embracing the journey, and being present in it.

Maybe it’s time to rethink the way we think. Instead of always planning for the future or dwelling on the past, we could learn to appreciate the now — the only moment we truly have.
